The shutter can be as fast (1/4000sec.) or slow (1minute). Fast shutter speeds freeze action. Sports mode anytime you want to freeze the action of fast moving objects.Spots mode also lets you take consecutive shots.
ISO: higher ISO creates higher gran or image sound. Stop is a term for how much light is in your scene.
